Recruitment of research faculty member: Systems Biology (Artificial Intelligence, Mathematical Modeling, or Data Sciences)

We are looking for a Ph.D. graduate with passion and expertise in the application of artificial intelligence and mathematical modeling in biological systems. The main objective of our team is to discover novel drug targets for chronic kidney disease. Using different layers of omics data, we plan to reach a holistic view of the underlying mechanisms of the disease and hence translate big biological data to clinically relevant knowledge. In this regard, we invite scientists with a good background in different aspects of systems biology to join us

Key Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Control Engineering, Bioinformatics or related fields
  • Deep knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence or mathematical modeling
  • Deep understanding of basic biological concepts
  • Expertise in research methodology and experimental design, preparing grant applications, writing scientific papers
  • Mentoring and team working capabilities
  • Creative and critical thinking
  • Strong academic and publication record

How to apply

To apply, please send your CV, cover letter describing previous research, and 3 letters of reference to Dr. Yousof Gheisari at  ygheisari@gmail.com or  rmrc@mui.ac.ir

Recruitment of research faculty member: Biological mechanisms of multinucleation

Part of studies in RMRC belongs to investigating the biological aspects of multinucleation in tissue regeneration and cancer. In previous studies, we have determined that multinucleation is a normal phenotype in development and regeneration which is abused in the context of cancer. Polyploid giant cancer cells (PGCCs) are the source of heterogeneity in cancer and can produce a variety of cell types which leads to cancer relapse post-therapy administration. Our ongoing projects are related to understanding the molecular mechanisms activated in PGCCs by analyzing omics data and suggesting potential drug targets that halt these cells using both systems biology and classical biology approaches. The applicant needs to have a deep understanding of the regenerative mechanisms, a demonstrated background in cellular and molecular biology, and be familiar with omics data analysis.

Key Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. degree in Medical Genetics, Molecular Medicine, and Medical Biotechnology
  • Be skillful in working with animals and establishment of animal models
  • Capable of Analyzing high-throughput data
  • Deep understanding of basic biological concepts
  • Expertise in research methodology and experimental design
  • Preparing grant applications, writing scientific papers
  • Mentoring and team working capabilities
  • Creative and critical thinking
  • Strong academic and publication record
